Seminário Infra-estruturas de Transporte e Biodiversidade‏

Nas últimas décadas, o número e extensão das estruturas lineares de transporte (estradas, auto-estradas, caminhos de ferro convencionais e de alta velocidade, canais de navegação) tem aumentado significativamente na Europa e no Mundo. Estas têm originado impactes negativos na biodiversidade onde se destacam o efeito barreira e a mortalidade por atropelamento que têm contribuído para o declínio de muitas espécies e populações silvestres. A constatação deste problema levou a que cada vez mais os projectos de sistemas lineares de transporte incluíssem medidas e estruturas que visam mitigar os seus impactes ambientais negativos, procurando criar assim sistemas mais sustentáveis e compatíveis com os objectivos europeus de inverter o declínio da biodiversidade.

Neste contexto, realizar-se-á no próximo dia 24 de Abril de 2009 no Auditório da Universidade de Évora (Colégio Espírito Santo) um seminário internacional sobre infra-estruturas de transporte, fragmentação de habitat e os seus impactes (e formas de minimização) na biodiversidade.
O Seminário tem por tema-título "Transport Infrastructure of 21st Century: Connecting People and Wildlife" e está a ser organizado pelo Infra Eco Network Europe (IENE), pela Universidade de Évora e pela Naturlink, no âmbito da reunião anual do IENE de 2009 e beneficiando da presença em Portugal dos principais especialistas europeus nestas matérias (o IENE foi criado em 1996 e trata-se de uma rede Europeia de peritos, institutos e outras entidades, envolvidos no assunto da fragmentação de habitats por infra-estruturas lineares de transporte).
